Spirit-Filled Community
All of us would hanker for a chance to be transported back to the time when Jesus walked on earth so that we can can walk beside Him like His first disciples did. However, Jesus declared to His disciples that it is more favourable for one to have the Spirit living inside them than to have the Son walking beside them (Jn 16:7)! Yet many of us live our Christian lives aware of the ministries of the Father and Son but neglecting the ministry of the Spirit. Francis Chan bemoaned this fact and termed the Holy Spirit the “Forgotten God”.
If it is true that it is more advantageous to have the Spirit in us than the Son beside us, shouldn’t there be a huge distinction between those who have the Spirit in them and those who don’t? If we are honest, we may find we are not very different from our friends. Cognitively, we may know about the Holy Spirit, but we struggle with what it truly means to experience Him in our lives. While we may have the “knowledge” of the Word, we are lacking in the “power” of the Holy Spirit.
The truth is, we are afraid of the Holy Spirit. We are fearful of His supernatural ministries. We prefer something safer that appeals to our rational minds. We confuse the need for orderliness in the church with our desire to be in control.
How then can we repent from neglecting the Holy Spirit in our lives? How can we experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit? How can we appropriate the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church? Are activities like tongue-speaking, prophecies/word of knowledge and healing the works of the Holy Spirit? What are the authentic works of the Holy Spirit? How can we become a Spirit-filled believer and a Spirit-filled community?
In this camp, we desire not only to understand but also to experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives and as a church.
Come join us!
