Follow Me

Jesus said “Come, follow me.” (Matthew 4:19)

Those of us who have responded and taken up his invitation can testify that He has led us all the way.  As long as we have striven to follow Him willingly, gladly and wholeheartedly, surely goodness and mercy has followed us. He has never failed nor disappointed us.

We may not have known the way before us in this spiritual journey, but He has led us. As the song goes: My Lord knows the way through the wilderness;

All I have to do is follow.

Strength for today is mine all the way,
And all that I need for tomorrow.
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness,
All I have to do is follow.

In choosing to follow Him, we may have encountered problems, hardships, trials, adversities, troubles, losses, opposition, uncertainties, ups-and-downs. BUT He is with us through it all and leads us all the way.  Truly we can sing “All the way my Saviour leads me, what have I to ask beside?  Can I doubt His faithful mercies, Who through life has been my guide?”.

Personally, He has seen me through the last forty-four years since I placed my trust in Him and followed Him.  I did not have any idea what lay ahead of me when I left Penang, Malaysia and came to Singapore in December 1976 with just ten dollars in my pocket. But He enabled me to finish four years of study, opened the door to serve Him for a season of almost fourteen years in full-time ministry; gave me a companion and citizenship here, and has done much more for me.

What a wonderful, loving and caring Saviour you and I have come to know. Continue to follow Him. It’s worth following Him. He alone offers a satisfactory life, here now on earth and in the life to come, hereafter. He will see us safely through to the Heavenly shores.
