He Cares For You

He Cares For You

“What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Ps 8:4)

The majestic, all-powerful Creator God you and I have come to know and worship, cares for us. He cared enough to save us from our sins through His Son, the Lord Jesus. He cared enough to give us salvation, forgiveness, eternal life, a second chance, and hope. He cared enough to make us children of God, a child of the King. He cared enough to enable us to enter His presence boldly and confidently without being struck dead. He cared enough to give us a place in the kingdom of God. He cares enough to set us apart and sanctify us through His Spirit to become like Him. He cares enough to guide, watch, protect, provide, and lead us in our daily lives.

A week before my family and I left for Bintan in April, it was raining almost daily in Singapore. We were wondering how the weather would turn out in Bintan the following week. We had paid for the accommodation and ferry rides. All our activities were going to be outdoors. Was our 5-day and 4-night trip going to be ruined? The Lord cared and gave us 5 sunny days. We had a good time in Bintan

He cares for us!

A few days before my trip to Bintan, I was experiencing pain in my left thigh, surging down to my ankle. It continued till the very morning I boarded the ferry. It was an hour’s ride and I was experiencing pain as I was seated. I was wondering how I would enjoy all the outdoor activities. To my surprise, the pain left that very afternoon. It did not bother me throughout our stay. He cared and enabled me to have a good holiday.

He cares for us!

Let us continue to trust and follow Him. The good Lord loves and cares for us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will never disappoint or fail us.

“…He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

The Lord Jesus is someone who cares for us.

Someone to Care

When the world seems cold and your friends seem few

There is someone who cares for you

When you’ve tears in your eyes your heart bleeds inside

There is someone who cares for you.

When your disappointments come and you feel so blue

There is someone who cares for you

When you need a friend, a friend till the end

There is someone who’s a friend to you.

Chorus:

Someone to care, someone to share

All your troubles like no other can do

He’ll come down from the skies

And brush the tears from your eyes

You’re His child and He cares for you…

Let’s Not Remain Silent; Declare Jesus Boldly

Do you remember who shared the Gospel with you or introduced the Lord Jesus to you? I still remember how the late K. D. Diong spoke to me about Jesus. I became angry and told him not to speak to me about Him. But he persisted. He did not give up. A few months later he invited me to a slide show without telling me what it was all about. I took up the invitation and went with him to a house church. The pastor in attendance that evening was sharing on Daniel chapter 2. I was convicted that very night that the God of the Bible is the one true God. I went on to know and love Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I have always wondered what if K. D. Diong had chosen to remain silent and did not share Jesus with me after my initial opposition and rejection.

We need to ask the Lord Jesus for boldness to testify for Him, witness for Him and share the Gospel. If we remain silent, how are the non-believers going to know Jesus?

The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 10:14 (NLT) “… how can they hear about him unless someone tells them…” and in Eph 6:20 (NLT) “… pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.”

My late uncle (mother’s brother) was a Hindu. He was my witness at my ROM.  Thereafter I lost touch with him for many years. I decided to resume contact with him four years ago with the intention of sharing the Gospel. He was 89 when I started to visit him and take him out on a monthly basis for lunch. Five months later, I shared the Gospel with him. A few months later I brought a visiting pastor from India to my uncle’s home.

He too shared the Gospel with him. On my monthly visits I would pray with him before I left his home. Sadly, till his dying day, he kept Jesus out of his heart. But one thing is clear in my mind that on the day of judgement, when he stands before Jesus, he cannot tell me that I did not tell him about Jesus.

In May this year, my wife and I took a taxi in JB. We entered into a conversation with a lady driver. She was not a believer. I noticed that there was a bookmark f the goddess of mercy hanging on her dashboard. During our conversation she remarked that my wife and I looked very happy. She asked us if we ever quarrelled.  I seized the opportunity to testify that we are Christians and Jesus keeps us happy. So brothers and sisters, let us not remain silent but declare Jesus boldly. May His Spirit give us grace and courage to speak for Him.

Intercede For Your Loved Ones’ Salvation

Let us first and foremost intercede for our loved ones’ salvation as disciples of the Lord. We are to reach out to the lost with the Gospel. Before we reach out to the world, let us ensure that our loved ones are saved. We need to pray regularly for them who are still outside the Kingdom of God. Who is going to pray for their salvation if we do not?

Let me briefly share the salvation stories of two of my loved ones. Firstly, my mother. I was the first to be baptised in my family, followed by six others. We prayed for my mother’s salvation. Twenty years after my baptism, my mother received the Lord Jesus as her Saviour. She saw the change in her children (those of us who were baptised) and on her own accord she said that she wanted to be a Christian. She asked us to remove all the idols from her home. She even asked me to teach her how to pray. Hallelujah!

Secondly, my elder brother. He served as a medium and temple priest. When I first told him about Jesus, he got angry. He told me, “This is the last time you are to share Jesus with me!” He rejected the Lord. Again we prayed to the Lord for his salvation. Thirteen years later, he developed Stage 4 cancer and accepted the Lord.  In his helplessness and desperation, he turned to the Lord. My eldest sister shared the scriptures with him daily. I had the joy of sharing God’s Word with him when I visited him in Penang during the June and December holidays before the Lord took him home. Hallelujah! All Glory to the Lord!

Brothers and sisters, do not be discouraged. Press on! Keep sharing. And as his disciples, keep praying for your loved ones’ salvation. It does not matter how long it takes for them to respond to the Lord. Leave the outcome to the Lord. He wants all our loved ones to come to know Him and be saved. The Lord is preparing a grand reunion for all of us in heaven. Let us continue to invite all our loved ones into the Kingdom of God.

“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”  Daniel 12:3

Follow Me

Jesus said “Come, follow me.” (Matthew 4:19)

Those of us who have responded and taken up his invitation can testify that He has led us all the way.  As long as we have striven to follow Him willingly, gladly and wholeheartedly, surely goodness and mercy has followed us. He has never failed nor disappointed us.

We may not have known the way before us in this spiritual journey, but He has led us. As the song goes: My Lord knows the way through the wilderness;

All I have to do is follow.

Strength for today is mine all the way,
And all that I need for tomorrow.
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness,
All I have to do is follow.

In choosing to follow Him, we may have encountered problems, hardships, trials, adversities, troubles, losses, opposition, uncertainties, ups-and-downs. BUT He is with us through it all and leads us all the way.  Truly we can sing “All the way my Saviour leads me, what have I to ask beside?  Can I doubt His faithful mercies, Who through life has been my guide?”.

Personally, He has seen me through the last forty-four years since I placed my trust in Him and followed Him.  I did not have any idea what lay ahead of me when I left Penang, Malaysia and came to Singapore in December 1976 with just ten dollars in my pocket. But He enabled me to finish four years of study, opened the door to serve Him for a season of almost fourteen years in full-time ministry; gave me a companion and citizenship here, and has done much more for me.

What a wonderful, loving and caring Saviour you and I have come to know. Continue to follow Him. It’s worth following Him. He alone offers a satisfactory life, here now on earth and in the life to come, hereafter. He will see us safely through to the Heavenly shores.
